The Festival
Pafos Comes Alive!
Inspired by the popular and well-respected European street festivals, the First Pafos International Street Festival will be a week-long event of entertainment, family fun, and laughter for Cypriots and tourists alike.
From August 26th to September 1st, 2024, starting at 7:00 every evening, there will be a great variety of performances by different international artists at seven different locations at the promenade in Kato Pafos and in Ktima (Pafos town). Up to 24 performances every evening for seven consecutive days are planned, making it the biggest festival of its kind ever held in Pafos! The performances will cover a variety of genres, such as acrobatics, circus skills, comedy, clowning, music, dance, and more.
This festival will be open for all (no tickets required). It will be a multi-day event where you decide what to pay each artist at the end of the show. Performing in public places for gratuities, the hat tradition (or busking), dates back to antiquity. The contribution by members of the audience was traditionally placed in a hat that was passed around. Nowadays, street performance is practiced all over the world and passersby, who enjoy the performance, similarly put money into a hat for the performers – this is the primary payment for the artists.
Join us at the first International Street Festival in Pafos!

The Team: Main Organizers
The Pafos International Street Festival is the brainchild of Richard Handley and a few Pafian friends including Jane Yianna Kayantas who is a facilitator, organizer and supporter of the arts par excellence and Tonie Scott, former School Principal and teacher and currently, a steward team leader at the world famous Glastonbury Festival. Richard is an established and well-known English comic entertainer who has performed at many festivals in Europe, Australasia, and the Middle East. A few months ago, during a dinner in Pafos, the festival idea came up and slowly took shape. Richard, Jane & Friends hashed out a plan and before long, received support from the Municipality of Pafos and local businesses.
Richard is not only a performing artist, but also a representative of London’s Covent Garden Street Performers Association, and organises more than ten acts a day during the high season. He also liaises with the local municipality and performing artists to ensure the smooth running of the world famous Covent Garden Street Theatre spots. He also loves Pafos and has been returning here for the past 20 years.
